Brian and I have been married for 18 years, together for 22 years, and are opposites in a lot of ways. Brian is the oldest of 2 children, and I’m the youngest of 6 children. Brian grew up in a military family that moved a lot, and I lived in the same house until I left for college. I’m an open book, and Brian is very private.

Before the shooting on July 7, 2016, Brian was not on social media at all, he turned down any media interviews, and he didn’t even want me to post his picture on my social media accounts. But something changed in him the night of the press conference.

Brian’s life has been about answering the call to serve: from the call to serve in the Air Force, to the call to become a surgeon, to now answering the call to run for Congress.
