Congressmembers should be fined for a shutdown
My opponent, Jack Bergman, is doubling down on the need for a government shut down. It's a red herring argument about government spending, but he's just playing radical right wing petty politics. The cuts he and extremists in the Freedom Caucus are proposing are all anti-poverty programs and only account for 2% of the budget. A shutdown will cost $1 billion a day on the backs of hardworking Americans, and Jack Bergman will still collect *multiple* paychecks from the US government. That's messed up!

Friend, I am ashamed of what I see in Washington right now. Congress is mandated to pass appropriations bills to be signed into law each year by Oct 1. Their failure is inexcusable. Each day of shutdown is estimated to cost $1 billion and countless hardships for many Americans. But Congress is still paid. How wrong! Each Senator (100) and Representative (435) should bear the burden of their failure. $1 billion divided by 535 would be a daily fine of $1.9 million to each of them. Or divide it amongst the extremists. They could come to an agreement and get their job done. We need to do something. This is totally unacceptable. We, citizens, need to address the chaotic, dysfunctional actions of Congress, and it starts by electing good people.
I need your help defeating Bergman, so our district can have a Congressman dedicated to real solutions and serious consideration for a balanced budget that doesn't leave anyone behind. Thank you. -Bob Bob Lorinser Candidate for US Congress Northern Michigan & the Upper Peninsula Democrat, MI01
