I sent you a note yesterday about the budget gap VoteRiders is facing this quarter and wanted to update you. While we’ve received a generous response, we still have to raise $3,438 before midnight to close our budget gap.
With so much at stake in 2024, it’s critical that VoteRiders jumpstart our outreach and assistance efforts now, to ensure everyone has the ID they need to cast a ballot that counts.
A few things have happened this year that required more of our time and resources than we were expecting.
Ohio enacted one of the country’s strictest voter ID laws earlier this year. We moved quickly to set up the Ohio Voter ID Coalition and hire staff on the ground.
Arizona enacted a new ID law that is causing a lot of confusion that VoteRiders staff on the ground is working to dispel.
The North Carolina Supreme Court reinstated a voter ID law previously struck down precisely for targeting and disenfranchising Black voters.
The voter ID landscape is constantly changing. VoteRiders is nimble and able to effectively mobilize staff and volunteers to meet whatever new challenges arise, but we can’t do it without the necessary resources, and now we’re looking at a budget shortfall.
VoteRiders is a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan nonprofit organization registered in the US under EIN 45-5081831.
