This week, I announced that I’m running to represent New Jersey in the United States Senate. I wanted you to hear it from me, and I want to tell you why.

I’ve long said that no one in America is above the law, regardless of their job title or personal politics. That’s the foundation of our justice system.

So when elected officials of either party are accused of abusing the public trust, as Senator Bob Menendez was earlier this week, I take those charges very seriously, and I hope the judicial system works thoroughly and quickly to bring this truth to light.

In the meantime, I do not have confidence that the Senator can properly focus on our state and its people while responding to the allegations.

But, facing multiple calls to resign from leaders in both parties and at all levels of government, Senator Menendez defiantly announced, “I am not going anywhere.”

New Jersey deserves better leadership in Washington, John.

That’s why I am stepping up. Will you make a split donation today between my campaign for Senate and UNITEDemocrats to help our movement rebuild faith in our democracy?

New Jerseyans need hard-working, trustworthy elected leaders focused on the common good and bringing integrity and civility back into our politics. I don’t take this on lightly – I didn’t intend to run for Senate – but we can’t jeopardize the Senate or compromise our country’s integrity.

I hope you’ll support our campaigns; it’s going to be a tough fight, but I know that together, we can ensure New Jersey — and the rest of the nation — has the leadership we deserve. As always, I’m honored to stand at your side in this work.
