After a historic week of climate action at Climate Week in New York City, the global investor-led initiative Nature Action 100 just announced that more than 190 global institutional investors—representing $23.6 trillion in assets under management or advice—will work to drive corporate nature action.
Investors will engage 100 companies in key sectors deemed systemically important to reverse nature and biodiversity loss by 2030. For the first time, the initiative unveiled those 100 companies, worth more than $9 trillion in market capital, that will be the initial focus for the investor engagements.
Investors are calling on these companies to take urgent and necessary actions in line with the Nature Action 100 Investor Expectations for Companies to protect and restore nature and ecosystems, thereby mitigating financial risk.
With more than half of the world’s GDP reliant on nature and its services, depleting natural capital creates significant risk for investors and businesses, with negative economic repercussions around the globe.
