Today, there is an even more important midnight deadline. If Congress does not pass a spending bill by midnight tonight, THE GOVERNMENT WILL SHUT DOWN.
Make no mistake, this is an attempt by MAGA Republicans, like my opponent, Freedom Caucus Chair Scott Perry, to hold our country hostage in order to push their radical agenda of crippling budget cuts for crucial government agencies.

A government shut down will hurt our entire economy, and force workers at government agencies on which we all depend to work without pay, including Federal law enforcement and those serving in our military.
As I write this, the House is preparing to vote on a short term spending bill. If that bill passes, we may prevent a shutdown, but only for a little while. The key phrase is short term, meaning that we are going to face this crisis again (and probably many more times) until radical House Republicans get their way OR we defeat them in the 2024 election.

I know it's only October of 2023, but defeating Perry, and those like him won't be easy.
