We are hours away from a government shutdown, and Speaker McCarthy and MAGA Republicans continue to ignore the reality of the situation they’re putting our country in.
So let me be clear. There is zero chance that the spending bill Speaker McCarthy is allowing MAGA Republicans to control will ever become law.
They don’t have the votes in the senate, and the president will never sign it. Meanwhile, the clock has nearly run out, and we have no time left to pass one of the multiple bipartisan measures being worked on to keep the government open.
For MAGA Republicans, government shutdowns have turned into PR stunts to tout their extremism while knowingly marching the country toward economic collapse. We saw it in 2018 when President Trump refused to pass the budget for 42 days over missing funds for his wall, and we’re seeing it again today.
And for the Speaker? He is making the most self-serving decision, allowing these clowns to continue, hoping that he will still be the ring leader after the circus is over.
