Today, I'll be on the Hill all day trying to find five Republicans who care enough about our country to join with Democrats and keep the government open. I'll be honest: I'm not optimistic.

Kevin McCarthy has yielded complete control of the House to the nihilist, MAGA extremist, wing of his party. Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene decide which bills can get a vote, and whether we will continue to provide benefits to 7 million vulnerable moms and children. There are easily 300 members who would vote to keep the government open, but because of those extremists, we can't even get a vote on it.

We can't let this group control the House for the next three years, we have to elect a Democratic majority in 2024. The investments my campaign is making today here in Virginia, and nationwide, make sure we can win the 5 seats we need to get a majority next year. But right now, we're behind our goal.
