Happy Leap Day, Greens!
I hope you're able to spend at least part of this extra
day how you want, whether on Green Party or other
movement organizing, catching up with loved ones or simply kicking
back and recharging in the ways you most enjoy because...
I couldn't pass up the chance to send out my only second-ever
GreenLine on a Leap Day, so here we are! When I think about all we can
accomplish together this year, I'm grateful for every extra day, hour
and minute we can wrangle 💚
- Registration includes all workshops, programs, Saturday
Lunch, and other events (with the exception of the Friday evening
fundraiser)
- Registrations are non-refundable but you can transfer to another
person.
- This $100, early registration special price lasts until
March 31 or until 75 registration spots are filled —
whichever comes first!
We recognize that attending Annual National Meetings can be
financially difficult for some Greens. If you
are eligible to join a GP caucus (Black,
Women's, Latinx, Lavendar, Youth) you can apply for a registration waiver by
submitting this form. We never turn anyone away
because of the cost of registration.

This Wednesday, March 4: Two Green Party Candidates to
Appear in Open Presidential Debate Co-Hosted by Free & Equal
Elections and Open The Debates
Free & Equal Elections Foundation is hosting its first Open
Presidential Debate of the 2020 US Presidential election at the Hilton
Chicago Hotel on March 4, 2020 at 2pm CST.
The debate will attempt to address many criticisms of recent
presidential debates, including frustrating formats, irrelevant
questions, and heavy-handed candidate exclusions.
Twenty one candidates have been confirmed for the event, including
Green Party candidates Howie Hawkins and
Sedinam Kinamo Christin Moyowasifza-Curry. Co-hosted
by Open the Debates, the debate will use formats and approaches
intended to shift the conversation toward constructive, respectful,
and solution-oriented debate.
The event will be broadcast live at www.freeandequal.org and
we'll let you know about more viewing platforms as information becomes
available. See the Facebook event page (no Facebook account
required to read it!) for more information about the debate criteria,
format and participants.
Please note the Green Party is not an official sponsor of this debate event.
Nevertheless, we appreciate platforms that inform voters about options
beyond the duopoly parties.
EcoAction Committee Wants To Hear About YOUR Green Party
Work For Climate Justice
The EcoAction Committee of the Green Party wants to identify local
and state Green Party work on climate change to better network with
local GP climate activists and to better inform our own work,
including how to assist your group.
Please fill out this survey so we can build a
nationwide climate justice strategy.
We are looking for work that is being done under the Green Party
name. We realize that many Greens individually are
engaged in climate activism, but this survey is to identify
official Green Party work.
We want to figure out how the national party can best assist and
amplify the climate work of state and local Green Parties. Your
suggestions are welcome.
Survey coordinator Mark Dunlea recently joined the EcoAction
Committee with an interest in organizing Green climate work
nationally, including days of actions, phone-ins, and GP contingents
at major climate events.
The EcoAction committee is also interested in hearing how it can
help on other environmental issues. You can contact them at [email protected]
.
Thanks, and please take a look at the
survey.

Hung Jury For Embassy Protectors a Victory for
International Solidarity Against Empire, Political
Speech
The Green Party expressed relief and gratitude for the jurors who
held out and refused to level a guilty verdict in the trial of the
Embassy Protectors’ Collective. The
federal district court trial began on February 11, and resulted three
days later in a hung jury and mistrial. The court will reconvene on
March 6, when the prosecution will state how it wishes to proceed. The
Embassy Protectors could have faced up to a year in prison and a
$100,000 fine each.
The four individuals were arrested in May of 2019 at the Venezualen Embassy
in Washington, D.C., where they were attempting to protect an embassy
takeover by an appointee of coup leader Juan Guaido.
Included among the four are Green Party of the United States National
Co-Chair Margaret Flowers, and Kevin
Zeese, 2006 Green candidate for U.S. Senate from
Maryland.
At the beginning of the trial, Chief Judge Beryl A. Howell
issued a ruling placing a number of restrictions on what the
defendants would be allowed to tell the jury. They could not argue
that their First Amendment political rights were violated; that Juan
Guaido is not, in fact, president of Venezuela; nor that the
Protectors were prepared to leave the embassy voluntarily once a
protecting power agreement was reached between the US and
Venezuela.
