Hey, John! If we haven’t met, I’d like to reintroduce myself and share why I’m running for governor, but first: My campaign has a critical end-of-quarter fundraising deadline coming up, and with just TWO WEEKS left until the primary, we can’t afford to slow down now! Can you chip in $5 to help hit our $15,000 goal before tonight’s deadline? John, my name is Shawn Wilson. As a homegrown Louisianan, I bet you and I probably have a few things in common! I grew up in a middle-class family in Algiers, right by the Mississippi River. I attended university in Lafayette, worked in the community after graduating, and became a devoted husband and father (and eventually grandfather) along the way.
About seven years ago, I was appointed Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development to bring my unique brand of leadership to a struggling department. Back then, Louisiana was facing record budget deficits and a slumping economy, and the department hadn’t broken ground on many of the big infrastructure projects that we’d needed for decades. Well, we got to work bringing local, state, and federal leaders together in collaboration with business owners, farmers, and neighborhood associations. In the end, we got things done and implemented the largest infrastructure investment in our state’s history. Now, I’m running for governor because Louisiana needs a leader who will show up to deliver on our priorities and find solutions to our greatest challenges. As our governor, I promise to always put Louisiana first and work with all sides to get the job done — just as I have for the past 25 years of my career. So, I have to ask, John: Will you make your first contribution to my campaign to help hit our critical end-of-quarter fundraising goal before tonight’s deadline? We have just two weeks to close the gap in the polls, so every donation is critical! If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: It’s our time, Louisiana! Thank you for your support! - Shawn Wilson
