In 2021, Florida enacted the contentious voting restrictions law known as SB 90. Criticized for curtailing drop box usage, withholding food and water from voters in line, and imposing barriers on voter registration organizations, SB 90 has been lambasted for disproportionately affecting minority voters, challenging the very essence of democracy.

Then:

Last year, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit ruled in favor of enacting SB 90. Despite legal challenges and protests from advocacy groups like the League of Women Voters of Florida, the law's impact on minority voters has remained an issue.

Now:

The full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has refused to alter this decision, solidifying SB 90. This outcome highlights the urgent need for action in the fight against discriminatory voting policies -- not only in Florida -- but across the nation.

What's happening in Florida is not an isolated occurrence. It's symbolic of a broader disenfranchisement trend being led by Republicans. As we grapple with similar anti-democratic actions across the nation, from Arkansas to Florida, from Missouri to Ohio, it's glaringly evident: gerrymandering is being wielded to stifle our voices and impose unjust policies.
