John, the California Democratic Party joins the nation today in mourning the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein.
As the first female president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Feinstein drew national attention for her heroism and leadership as she guided the city through the aftermath of the 1978 assassinations of Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk.
Over the next 44 years, that same leadership and drive to serve the people made Dianne Feinstein a leading light for Democrats across America.

As San Fransisco Mayor, and then as US Senator, Dianne Feinstein played a central role in writing the history of California and the nation – expanding civil rights, preserving precious land, advocating for marriage equality, banning assault weapons, and much more.
The longest-serving female US Senator in our nation’s history, Dianne Feinstein will be remembered for her honorable legacy as a trailblazing Californian whose work changed the lives and futures of countless Americans.
Our thoughts are with the Senator’s family and friends in this difficult moment.
