Photo Courtesy Of WVLT In West Knoxville, the National Embryo Donation Center (NEDC) is a beacon of hope for couples wanting to start a family. They take extra embryos from IVF and give them a shot at becoming someone's child. Kate and Steven Keylon waited a decade for their baby, Poppy. Little did they know, Poppy had been waiting for them, frozen since 2014 as an adopted embryo donated to NEDC. Dr. John David Gordon, a physician at NEDC, said many folks didn't even know this was an option. Embryo adoption at NEDC lets couples become parents with donated embryos. The center, now in its 20th year, has helped over 1,500 babies come into this world. For folks like the Keylons, it's a precious gift that makes parenthood possible when it seemed impossible. |
