New Dem Chair Kuster on House Republicans' Failure to Pass Hyper-Partisan Continuing Resolution
Today, New Democrat Coalition Chair Annie Kuster (NH-02) released a statement following Speaker McCarthy’s failure to pass a partisan continuing resolution (CR) and called on the Speaker to bring the Senate’s CR to the floor for a vote:
“Today, the extreme Republican majority’s hyper partisan continuing resolution went up in flames, once again proving that the only way out of this government funding crisis is a bipartisan solution.
“The Speaker’s weak leadership has empowered a handful of extremists to push the country toward a harmful, costly, and entirely unnecessary shutdown. The American people deserve better.
“The Speaker has a choice: he can bring the bipartisan Senate solution to the floor for a House vote, or continue down this hyperpartisan path. The only way to avoid a shutdown is to pass a bipartisan bill and that’s why New Dems strongly urge the Speaker to bring the Senate’s bipartisan CR to the floor before it’s too late. There’s still time to do the right thing and avoid a shutdown.”
