John, unless Congress takes immediate action, we’re heading for another government shutdown.
With under two days to pass a bill that would fund our government, Speaker Kevin McCarthy would rather appease the most extreme members of his party than keep our government open.
But the far-right must not be able to hold our government hostage to win extremist concessions – and the hundreds of millions of Americans who depend on a functioning government deserve better.
We deserve a government that actually works for us. Add your name to tell Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans to keep the government open >>
If Congress doesn’t pass legislation to fund our government before THIS SUNDAY, we’re facing a shutdown with major consequences.
The Senate has already done its job and passed a bipartisan bill to keep the government funded, but Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans seem intent on pushing us to a shutdown.
Besides furloughing hundreds of thousands of federal workers without pay, a shutdown would impact countless federal programs that we depend on – like disaster relief, loans for homebuyers and small businesses, FDA inspections, and even potential airport delays as TSA workers and air traffic controllers go unpaid. [1]
Let me put it simply: a shutdown would be disastrous for all of us. But extremist House Republicans would rather play games for political points than keep the government open.
It’s unacceptable. Sign our petition and send a clear message that Congress must do whatever it takes to keep the government open.
Thanks for all you do,
