When Democrats Turn Out

GOP senator Martha McSally has swung far to the right to prove her loyalty to Trump.

At a rally with Trump earlier this month, she (falsely) attacked Mark Kelly as a socialist, saying “Mark Kelly is flying on Bernie Sanders’ wing, and I’m flying on your wing, President Trump.”

At the same rally, Trump gave his vocal support for McSally, crediting her with helping him squash the impeachment charges. And for doing that, she has the support of the entire Trump fundraising machine.

Arizona voters are taking notice -- before her impeachment vote, McSally was polling at 42%, but with her votes acquitting Trump, she’s dropped to 39%. Mark Kelly has risen to 46%, beating McSally by 7 points.

If Martha McSally wins in November, Trump and Mitch McConnell will keep control of the Senate.

They’ll ramp up the attacks on immigrants and the Affordable Care Act and do nothing to stop climate change. And since they’ve already acquitted him, there’ll be no limit to what Trump will do to abuse his power.
