For decades, my district has been a reliably Democratic seat. But last year, everything changed.
I was deemed a Frontline congressional candidate. FiveThirtyEight said mine was the most competitive House race in Georgia. And I was in one of the toughest races of my entire career in office.
I hate reaching out to ask people for money, but I have to prepare for what’s sure to be a tough cycle ahead. I can’t tell you for certain what will happen in this race, but here’s what I do know: Georgia Republicans redistricted my seat, they continue to pass voter suppression laws to restrict access to the ballot box, and national Republicans will flood our state with dark money — all in an attempt to erase the Democratic progress we’ve made here in Georgia.
Since taking back the House last November, Republicans feel emboldened and they’re going to do everything they can to hold on to their majority. I’ve been targeted by them before, and we’ve got to be ready to hold them off, defeat an opponent, and hold on to this district.
John, I’m asking for your support so I can keep delivering for Georgia, and so Democrats can get back to passing federal legislation that helps families across the country. The only way to do that is by winning congressional races like mine in battleground states.
