I just got out of a meeting with my finance team. They told me we’re still 27% below our grassroots fundraising goal and the deadline is tomorrow. My immediate thought was: “this is terrible!”

Now here’s the big decision I have to make: At the end of this quarter we’ll finally see our opponent’s fundraising report. If we reach our goal and raise more than Kevin Lincoln, I can tell my team to move forward with new ads and hiring more staff. If my opponent outraises us through corporate PACs and special interests, then I will have to put a hold on any new spending. We’ll also have to spend the rest of the year digging out of this fundraising hole. 

It’s a big decision and it all depends on how much we can raise between now and the end-of-quarter deadline tomorrow. We’re still falling $12,000 short of our goal, and I’m really counting on this grassroots team to catch up.
