Fall marks a transition from the bustling energy of summer to a more reflective mindset, and the one thing I’ve been thinking about is the resurgence of “nostalgia” and the way it’s currently weaved into today's culture. Nostalgia serves as a bridge between generations, allowing older generations to share memories with younger ones. It also offers a sense of stability and a reminder of “simpler” times.
For me, my favorite form of nostalgia has to be teen television franchises from my middle and high school years. Think Vampire Diaries, One on One, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, and Moesha (which were reruns once I hit high school 😂). These shows aren’t necessarily relatable and don’t provide groundbreaking plots or intense drama (well, maybe One Tree Hill). Still, they provide heartwarming storylines and a sense of predictability, offering a break from the chaos of everyday life. It's a form of entertainment that brings us a sense of belonging and emotional comfort, reminding us that in a world of constant change, there are some things we can always count on.
As the temperatures begin to drop and the days grow shorter, there's a natural inclination to cozy up indoors, away from the hectic pace of life. So tap into that nostalgic comfort and embrace the idea of slowing down and reflecting.
Now, let’s take a look at some of the things that have brought me joy throughout September:
