John, BREAKING: Free Speech For People has just filed a lawsuit on behalf of Michigan voters to bar Trump from appearing on the state’s presidential primary and general election ballot in 2024 under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, also known as the Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause. We are seeking a court order that would compel Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to block Trump from both the primary and general election ballots in Michigan. This lawsuit follows a similar challenge we filed on behalf of voters in Minnesota on September 12. Oral argument before the Minnesota Supreme Court in that case is scheduled for November 2, 2023. Trump violated his oath of office and incited a violent insurrection that attacked the U.S. Capitol, threatened the assassination of the Vice President and congressional leaders, and disrupted the peaceful transfer of power for the first time in our nation’s history. This is the exact scenario for which the Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause was created, and election officials have a responsibility to follow this constitutional mandate and bar Trump from the ballot. That’s why we’re taking legal action to defend Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment and ensure that Donald Trump, a direct and serious threat to the republic, is disqualified from ever holding public office again. Will you donate what you can today to help us uphold the Constitution and ensure that Trump is barred from appearing on the ballot? This is about more than Donald Trump. This is about protecting the future of our democracy and ensuring that no one, not even the president, is above the law. But our success relies heavily on you. Your support for Free Speech For People provides us with the resources to pursue the kind of groundbreaking legal action we’re pursuing to uphold the Constitution at this critical moment in history. Donate today to help us make the message clear: Donald Trump is ineligible for the presidency or any other public office.
