In case you missed it, we won a MASSIVE victory, John!

Last week, we stood with the president at the White House to celebrate the creation of the first-ever Office of Gun Violence Prevention. 🏛️

A quick timeline:

— In 2019, we were the FIRST national group to call for a federal office dedicated to tackling the gun violence epidemic.

— In 2020 and 2021, a federal office was one of our key pressure campaigns as part of our Peace Plan, and we hosted a mock “State of the Union” to call for action.

— In 2022, we rallied at the White House, then helped elect our former Organizing Director and first Gen Z congressman Rep. Maxwell Frost to Congress.

— In 2023, Rep. Frost’s first bill was the Office of Gun Violence Prevention Act of 2023 — and we followed it up with a letter to the White House calling for immediate action.

After five years of tenacious activism, we WON! Once again, we are proving that young people are a political force to be reckoned with. When young people use their voices for change, we WIN.

This historic office will marshal a whole-of-government approach to throw everything we have to combat the gun violence epidemic, centralizing federal efforts and creating a cohesive strategy across agencies.

Gun violence prevention activists and young people worked tirelessly to demand bold gun safety action despite the gun lobby’s attacks. We’re proud to say that after years of organizing and hard work, we finally did it!
