*Gov. Whitmer Signs Budget Implementation Bills*
"Legislation will ensure continued funding for state police, higher education, & economic development"
*LANSING, Mich.* – Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation to implement the state budget as the new fiscal year begins on October 1. The legislation will provide funding for Michigan State troopers, public universities, community colleges, and the 21st Century Jobs Trust Fund, among others.
“Today’s bills will help us build on our growing economic momentum and deliver on the policies in historic, bipartisan budget I signed earlier this year,” said *Governor Whitmer*. “Together, we are protecting clean air, powering economic development, investing in higher education, and supporting our state troopers. Let’s keep delivering on the issues that matter most to people’s lives by ensuring state government runs effectively and efficiently. If we do, we can build a brighter future for Michigan.”
House Bills 4988 [ [link removed] ], 4994 [ [link removed] ], 5004 [ [link removed] ], 5006 [ [link removed](S(pcpzz2i1e14xrodsx4sqaxxl))/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&objectName=2023-HB-5006 ], and 5007 [ [link removed] ] supports critical programs for the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), and Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
House Bills 4993, [ [link removed] ] 4995 [ [link removed] ], 4996 [ [link removed] ], and 4997 [ [link removed] ] will support administrative work around businesses and corporations.
House Bill 5003 [ [link removed] ] will ensure the state can continue mental and public health programming.
House Bills 4990, [ [link removed] ] 4991 [ [link removed] ] and 5000 [ [link removed] ] provides funding for state troopers and clean up of used transportation equipment.
House Bill 4982 [ [link removed] ] will ensure public universities and community colleges can support distance learning opportunities for students.
