If Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans like Mike Garcia are unable to reach a deal before tomorrow at midnight, the government will shut down.
A shutdown is not something to take lightly. It would stifle our nation’s economy and upend the livelihoods of millions of hard working Americans. Here in CA-27, thousands would go without paychecks, including active duty military. A government shutdown, spearheaded by the House GOP, would be an economic disaster and national security risk.
And here’s a fact: Over the last three decades, all government shutdowns have had one thing in common -- a U.S. House controlled by do-nothing Republicans like Mike Garcia.
You would think that the House GOP would have prepared for the possibility of a shutdown by working across the aisle to prevent this worst-case scenario.
But what has Mike Garcia been doing to solve this? Nothing.
