John,

Earlier this month, our 2023 Assembly session officially came to a close. I'm excited to tell you about some of the important bills we passed to improve the quality of life for our community and all Californians.

I want to share more about what we accomplished. But first, my FEC fundraising deadline hits tomorrow at midnight and we could use a final push to meet our quarterly goal. Please chip in $3 or more.

I’ve had the honor of authoring and co-authoring a number of critical bills this year:

🚦 Reducing traffic accidents and saving lives through a program where drivers who are caught significantly speeding or street racing receive a nominal fee -- with no points on their license. Having heard so many stories about families ripped apart due to a loved one passing away or being seriously injured due to a speeding driver, I’ve worked on this bill for years. I will continue to prioritize the safety of my constituents.

✊ Preventing striking workers from being driven to insolvency through a multi-pronged effort, both by allowing striking California workers to receive unemployment benefits, and by creating a loan program to keep striking workers from risking homelessness. Losing everything should not be the price workers pay for standing up for their rights, and these measure provide a safety net to protect workers and our economy.

💧 Protecting our natural resources by partnering with our water agencies to ensure drinking water isn’t wasted by cities and commercial users on ornamental, non-functional turf.

🚈 Delivering on improved infrastructure by authoring key legislation and participating in the working group which negotiated the package which will accelerate construction timelines on projects to help meet our climate and clean energy goals. Infrastructure investment is how we address some of our most pressing environmental and social issues. By fast-tracking projects that reduce our carbon footprint, we’ll get there.

These are just a few of the major things we accomplished this year, and I want to deliver more for California in Congress:

Please help me get there with your support. In this competitive race, every dollar ahead of our end-of-quarter filing deadline matters. Chip in $3 if you can.

I’m not running for Congress for name recognition or the thrill of hearing my own voice. I’m running because I’m committed to creating a California that is equipped to thrive and be enjoyed by my daughter and the generations that follow her.

I’m glad to have your support as we work to make that happen.

Laura
