Hey John,

Nearly 80,000 viewers across live streaming platforms patiently awaited updates from United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain this morning. Some viewers were striking workers logging in straight from the picket lines. Fain announced that 7,000 more UAW members have been called to strike in Chicago and Michigan at 12pm ET today. Over 25,000 UAW members at 43 facilities in 21 states have now joined the historic strike against Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis.

New strike locations:

  • Ford - Chicago Assembly, Local 551

  • General Motors - Lansing Delta Assembly, Local 602

Fain made it clear that negotiations have not stalled and the UAW bargaining team continues to work day and night. Despite their efforts, Ford and General Motors are refusing to make meaningful progress. Meanwhile, negotiations with Stellantis have made significant progress on Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) and the right to strike over plant closures and outsourcing.

Now is the time for action and an outpouring of community support! Join us this Sunday, October 10 at 6pm ET for a Solidarity Call with the Labor Network for Sustainability, UAW, Working Families Party, and others. We’ll share ways you can stand in solidarity with striking workers on the picket lines and beyond. Don’t miss out on this important opportunity!

In Solidarity,
