Our team of IP experts will run through the steps you can take to identify, protect, and harness the value of your IP to meet your commercial objectives, from generating investment to driving growth via licensing and distribution agreements.

Cory's patent practice covers a wide range of technical areas, generally within the healthcare, software, and engineering sectors, with a particular focus on medical devices, medical physics applications and machine learning. Cory represents a broad variety of clients, ranging from individual inventors and small start-ups all the way up to multi-national companies and overseas agents, which enables him to understand the specific needs of any individual company.
*Paven Munder, IP Solicitor (Gateley Legal)*
Paven is an IP solicitor who has a range of experience in both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, including trademarks, passing off and copyright. Paven works with a diverse selection of clients, including individuals, small businesses and multi-national companies.
*Georgina Bagnall, Patent Attorney (Adamson Jones)*
Georgina mainly handles patent work within the engineering and physics sectors, with a particular focus on mechanical engineering, medical devices, and electronics. She works with a range of companies, her experience primarily being with owner-managed SMEs and technology-focused start-ups.

Nottingham Consultancy Challenge 2024
The Nottingham Consultancy Challenge connects you with bright, motivated students to offer a fresh perspective on an issue or challenge that?s affecting your business.
The Challenge connects a small, multi-disciplinary group of students with a business or organisation to work on a short-term project, simulating a consultancy relationship. It exposes students to new sectors, real-world organisations and the challenges they face whilst providing organisations with fresh, well-researched ideas and recommendations on a real business need.
Participants work collaboratively and fully remotely, in the roles of
?consultant(s)? and ?client?. Students have six weeks to clarify the brief, work
on the project and produce and deliver a professional presentation and report

Students work in a mixed-disciplinary group over the course of six weeks in spring 2024.

Each month, Growing Nottingham will be highlighting one of the UKSPF partners and sharing details about what they will be offering. This month, we would like to introduce you to Medilink Midlands? MeTAP* business support programme.
MediLink Midlands logo
*Medilink Midlands* ? *MeTAP** Medilink Midlands, working in partnership with the University of Nottingham (UoN), will provide high-quality business and innovation support to companies already in, or transitioning into, the life science and medtech sectors within the locality of Nottingham City, to ensure Nottingham City continues as a city of pioneering medtech and health tech innovation, globally.
The MeTAP* business support programme will support companies to accelerate innovation and provide the right skills and tools to enable companies to increase their competitive advantage by working across other industry suppliers and partners, academic demand lead research, NHS, local government, and other sector stakeholders
*MeTAP* will provide:*
* Access to high-value life science sector specific expertise including IP, regulatory, clinical adoption, and innovation test beds
* Cross-sectoral knowledge e.g., manufacturing, digital, virtual test environments
* Grant funding
* Signposting and sectoral networking opportunities
* Innovation Accelerator Programme (IAP)
This will be achieved through a comprehensive two-year business support programme of sector specific:
* Business Support
* Product Development Support
* Special Interest Groups
* Technology collaboration events
*Open to Life Science & MedTech organisations in Nottingham City
*Chief Executive of Medilink Midlands Melanie Davidson* said: ?We are delighted to be part of this programme which will help stimulate a culture of innovation across Nottingham, and further develop our comprehensive, integrated, co-ordinated life science ecosystem to support companies to accelerate their ideas to market.?
?Medilink Midlands has been delivering innovation support to Nottingham SMEs for a number of years,? Mel explained. ?Using our comprehensive cross-sectoral knowledge and networks across the med tech and life sciences industry, this project will enable us to support more companies in the city to increase their competitive advantage and facilitate collaborations with industry suppliers and partners, academic research, the NHS, local government, and other sector stakeholders.?

Leveling up UKSP logos
UKSPF NOTTINGHAM OPEN CALL 5 (OC5) ? BUSINESS GROWTH 2
This call focuses on the UKSPF Investment Priority of Supporting Local Businesses within Nottingham City Council?s UKSPF programme.
Nottingham City Council will utilise approximately ?700,000 of UKSPF Revenue and Capital funding to support its business growth objectives from April 2024 to March 2025.
The Open Call will contain four separate lots. We are looking to provide grants to organisations to deliver projects aimed at:
* Supporting Enterprise Infrastructure, Incubators and Accelerators.
* Growing the Local Social Economy.
* Developing Angel Investor Networks.
* R&D grants supporting innovative product & service development.
These projects will help to grow business productivity, increase the local business pool and drive growth in the economy.
A Technical Workshop providing more details on this Open Call will be held on Microsoft Teams on *Tuesday 10th October at 10:00 ? 11:00am. *

This call focuses on the UKSPF Investment Priority of People & Skills within Nottingham City Council?s UKSPF programme.
Nottingham City Council will utilise approximately ?165,000 of UKSPF Revenue and Capital funding to support its Employment & Skills objectives from April 2024 to March 2025.
Through this Open Call, we are looking to provide one grant to an organisation to deliver a project aimed at:
* Meeting local skills needs.
* Delivering Green Skills courses.
* Supporting the delivery of life and career skills courses.
We will be looking for applications that:
* Promote social inclusion.
* Reduce social deprivation and encouraging social mobility.
* Engage economically inactive residents to support their economic progression.
* Contribute to Nottingham becoming a carbon neutral city by 2028.
