Amanda’s only been back in Harrisburg for a week now, but she hasn’t wasted any time getting down to work for Pennsylvanians. Here’s a recap of what Amanda’s been fighting for:
- As proposed book bans become more and more prevalent across the Commonwealth, Amanda’s stepping up to address the problem head-on. Last week, she joined other lawmakers, with parents, teachers, students, and authors to advocate against the censorship and book bans that have been on the rise in our communities.
- Amanda knows that the discourse on the rise of book bans also distracts us from what our mission as a Commonwealth needs to be: building up our community resources, making knowledge more accessible, and providing the public with places to indulge their curiosities and challenge their perspectives.
- Amanda secured over $8 million for the Pennsylvanian Commission on Crime & Delinquency in District 17 which helps the most vulnerable members of our communities during their hardest times. We need victim services programs like these to support our community members who are suffering after traumatic events have taken place in their lives. Amanda will continue advocating for programs like the PCCD that are essential to the common good and make a real difference in the lives of Pennsylvanians who are struggling.
- Amanda’s also standing with our Governor in his efforts to make voting in Pennsylvania easier by simplifying our voter registration process. Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, and the Governor’s step to make voter registration easier are the kind of measures Amanda’s continuing to fight for.
