Hi John,

Here’s the bad news: Far-right Republicans are ready to shut down the government, putting people’s livelihoods and health at risk, unless their demands for unrealistic, debilitating budget cuts are met.

This is unacceptable. Without funding in place we will lose the momentum around all the amazing environmental work that has happened and already made a difference across the country. Will you take action now and tell the House we will not let them hold climate progress hostage?

Send a powerful message to your Representative urging them to fund the government and defend our environmental and climate protection programs. [link removed]

Tell Congress to fund the government and protect climate progress! [link removed]

Extreme House Republicans are calling for a slash in agency funding by as much as 39%. That would in turn make significant cuts to environmental protections and clean energy funding. But we know that there’s a better way. The Senate worked in bipartisan fashion to advance funding legislation that helps us meet the nation’s climate goals, promotes energy security and funds core government responsibilities, like clean and safe drinking water.

However, partisan games and unreasonable and irresponsible demands for unpopular budget cuts from the far right has put the U.S. on the brink of a government shutdown. An avoidable decision that will force Americans will pay the price with their health and their pocketbook.

Should the government shutdown:

Hundreds of thousands of Americans will go without their regular paychecks;
Environmental impact reviews for energy and infrastructure projects will stop; and
Most EPA-led inspections at hazardous waste sites, as well as drinking water chemical facilities, will come to a halt.

Congress must stop the attacks on critical funding for climate and public health. Tell the House to put their constituents first by sending a message today. [link removed]

Thank you for taking action,
