As a retired General who was confirmed by the Senate, Tommy Tuberville’s hold on promotions for our most senior officers is something that strikes very close to home for me.

The reason the American warrior does the amazing things he or she does is trust. Trust in the chain of command and trust in America and her government. This Tuberville stunt is doing irreparable harm to that essential trust between our civilian and Military leaders.

That is why I am so proud of the work we have done to move these promotions forward. It is critical to our National Security, yes. But it is also critical to the fabric of our country and our Democracy.
