Center Takes Legal Action in Three U.S. States [[link removed]]
Across the U.S., people are being turned away from hospitals and denied abortions even when it's medically necessary to protect their life, health, or future fertility. This is why we've taken new legal action in Idaho, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. With these new filings, the Center seeks to ensure that pregnant people in dire situations can access abortion care in these states, and that doctors are given clarity on what situations qualify under the "medical emergency" exceptions in their states' extreme abortion bans.

Historic Ruling by Mexico's Highest Court to Decriminalize Abortion [[link removed]]
In a recent historic decision, Mexico's Supreme Court of Justice has issued a ruling federally decriminalizing abortion, recognizing the prosecution of abortion seekers as a violation of human rights. This decision is just the latest victory of Latin America's inspirational Green Wave movement. Named for the green bandanas worn by its members, the movement advocates for expanded abortion access throughout Latin America. "With this milestone in Mexico, Latin America solidifies its position as the leading region in guaranteeing reproductive rights—a global benchmark. This progress joins the recent ruling of the Colombian Constitutional Court, which decriminalized abortion up to week 24 and was achieved through the Causa Justa movement," said Carmen Cecilia Martinez, Associate Director of Legal Strategies for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Center.

Discussions with Nepal Leaders Highlight Infertility, Assisted Reproduction, and Surrogacy Issues [[link removed]]
In Nepal, the Center organized and participated in several meetings in Kathmandu to discuss and advance pressing reproductive rights and health issues with human rights experts, members of Nepal's Parliament and Ministry of Health and Population, and other participants. "At this meeting, Parliamentarians participated in a comprehensive, first-of-its-kind consultation unpacking legal issues around infertility, assisted reproduction, and surrogacy. Further, there was consensus among the Parliamentarians about the need to examine, analyze, study, and research these issues and work to develop legal and regulatory drafts," said Prabina Bajracharya, the Center's Associate Director of Program Operations and Administration for Asia. Events like these are crucial in advancing reproductive rights and health issues.
