Dear John,

I know the campaign has been sending a lot of emails this week, so I'll make it quick:

We have a $10,000 fundraising goal we need to hit before the end of the quarter, and I need your help to do it.

Here's why meeting this donation goal is so important to this campaign:

Next week, we'll need to disclose how much money we've raised and spent with the Federal Election Commission. That report will be publicly available.

Everyone and their mother (slight exaggeration) will be watching these reports to assess how strong our campaign is, and see how much money we ended the quarter with.

A strong filing will help us secure more media coverage, local endorsements, and potential investments in our campaign.

Put simply, this moment is too important to give anything less than 100% effort, which is why I'm asking you to make your first donation to our campaign before the end of the day.

To give you an idea of what 100% effort looks like, it’s traveling around the district and, right now, it’s what is called call time.

For those (blissfully) unaware, most candidates for Congress spend hours (20, 30, 40 hours) a week calling potential donors and asking them to invest in the candidate's race.

For a Midwesterner like me who was raised to do it yourself and not talk about money — I had to get uncomfortable and dig in.

The truth is I will do what it takes because I believe in this race. I don’t care how many people hang up on me. I don’t care how many names I’m called. I don’t care how many people tell me that what I’m doing doesn’t matter, or that I should be watching my kids instead.

This is too important. And for every one of those people — there are so many more folks who know that this race is about the future of our democracy. It’s about us. And that’s something worth investing in.

While I'm manning the phones this week, can I count on you to make a donation online to help us hit our goal? Together, we can accomplish incredible things, but it's going to take all of us together.
