To be frank: Kevin McCarthy and the GOP House majority cannot get their s#*t together.

They are poised to shut down the government at midnight on Saturday — and hundreds of thousands of federal workers will be the ones suffering as they go without pay.

Even Mitch McConnell was able to find a compromise with Senate Democrats to pass a continuing resolution. McCarthy — the weakest Speaker in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives — can’t.

Talk about not fit to govern.

And the ringleader of this far-right circus, Donald Trump, is coming to California tomorrow to headline the California Republican Party convention before holding a massive fundraiser in Costa Mesa right before the FEC deadline closes.

I’ve been at the Capitol past midnight most nights this week working to keep the lights on. Which is what Kevin McCarthy and the MAGA brigade should be doing — you know, their job. Frankly, with a shutdown looming, I haven’t had time to focus on my campaign’s FEC deadline on Saturday.
