Isn't Spring on the southern Gold Coast amazing?
It's a great time of year to be out and about enjoying all that the Coast has to offer. As always, I've been out talking to as many local residents as possible - including business visits and doorknocking.
Talking to locals, I know that cost of living increases are really taking their toll. It's not just food, petrol and electricity hikes...but this month it was revealed that insurance premiums rose more than 14% last year.
Sadly, the storm clouds of inflation show no sign of clearing, with CPI rising again. Inflation robs us in so many ways - not only does it add to the price of just about everything, it also reduces the value of savings, including superannuation.
That's why we continue to argue that addressing rising cost of living should be the government's number one priority.
During Parliamentary sittings I also took the opportunity to raise local concerns about Stage 4 of the Light Rail, given revelations of the impact on local parking by Stage 3.
And this month I hosted a special Citizenship Ceremony at Merrimac on Australian Citizenship Day. I was a pleasure to welcome 56 locals who were super excited to join our Australian family.
Finally, congratulations to Gold Coast company Gilmour Space Technologies on their progress towards launching Australia’s first orbital rocket. I am very much looking forward to launch! If, like me, you love all things Space, don't miss the opportunity to name the Australian lunar rover!
And a quick reminder that my office has gone virtual as the Department conducts necessary building work. My team and I remain ready to assist and it's business as usual for us!
As always, please feel free to send me an email and provide me with your feedback: [email protected] I'm happy to hear from you at any time!
Until next month,
