BIG NEWS FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN CORPORATE ACCOUNTABILITY:
The New York Times reports, "The Federal Trade Commission and 17 states sued Amazon, saying its conduct in its online store and services to merchants illegally stifled competition."
The lawsuit accuses Amazon of using its unique power to monitor which products are best sellers -- and then replicating those products, promoting their own version to customers, and driving the little guy out of business.
Today, we are joining with 30 other organizations in saying THANK YOU to FTC Chair Lina Khan and the bipartisan Attorneys General who are fighting for competition and accountability in the marketplace.
Public statement of support:
Dear FTC Chair Lina Khan, FTC Commissioners, and state Attorneys General:
As members of the public, we want to thank the Federal Trade Commission and 17 state Attorneys General for filing your major antitrust lawsuit against Amazon. The public and small businesses need protection from monopolies that use unfair business practices to suppress competition in the marketplace. We encourage you to be aggressive in your pursuit of these charges as well as the needed structural remedies.

Progressive Change and Demand Progress will ensure the FTC, state Attorneys General, and media see the vast public support.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
