Dear Friends,
Following the news that the Health and Human Services Secretary declared a public health emergency for the entire United States for the 2019 coronavirus, I wanted to share the latest update on our response in Congress, as well as some key facts and resources.
According to public health agencies, there is currently believed to be a low threat of infection for residents in the 15th District and the state of Texas. Texas is prepared and I applaud the local and state officials for taking proactive steps to keep all of us informed and safe.
It's vitally important that local, state and federal agencies have the resources they need to effectively combat the coronavirus. While the Administration's response has largely been insufficient, Congress is preparing a robust package that will meet the scale of this crisis in preparation for any situation that may arise from this virus.
It is also important that everyone follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and prevention:

- For more information from the state of Texas coronavirus updates, click here.
As always, my office is prepared to assist constituents with any questions, concerns, or issues they may have involving federal agencies, and we will continue to share information as it becomes available.
Sincerely,
Vicente Gonzalez Member of Congress
