Despite an otherwise chaotic four years in office, then-President Donald Trump steadily and systematically made progress toward one singular goal: stacking the federal courts with partisan ideologues.

Now the courts are filled with judges who are deeply committed to Republican and conservative causes, and right-wing think actors feel emboldened to file even the most extreme cases because Trump’s judges, including his three Supreme Court justices, have proven receptive to them.

Nowhere in the country is this more true than in Amarillo, Texas, in Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk’s courtroom, and on no issue is he more extreme than on reproductive rights.
