Hilary has led the charge to address our communities’ challenges with unprecedented investment and groundbreaking policies.
John,
Public Lands Commissioner Hilary Franz has secured unprecedented federal funding to invest in urban forestry projects around the state.
New tree-planting projects to sprout in Washington with help from $36M in grants Over a dozen communities around the state will share in the federal urban forestry funding, which comes amid concerns about climate change and extreme heat.
Washington will receive more than $36.3 million in federal funds to help combat extreme heat and climate change and improve access to nature. The Department of Natural Resources will also open applications for an additional $7 million in grants to help communities grow their urban tree canopies.
We know that a lack of tree coverage in cities contributes to hotter temperatures, greater pollution, and higher noise levels. With growing concerns over extreme heat, we need new strategies to prepare while at the same time working to correct existing inequities by investing in our communities.
Hilary has led the charge to address our communities’ challenges with unprecedented investment and groundbreaking policies. Now, she’s running for governor to continue delivering progress for every Washingtonian.
