Friends-
When you work on a campaign, you get to know the very specific language of campaign life. One acronym that all campaign people know is EOQ – or “End-of-Quarter”.
In just a few days, we have an official Federal Election Commission (FEC) fundraising deadline. There are four per year. After each quarter, we're legally required to report how much money we've raised since our last FEC deadline at the end of June. And a lot of things have happened since then – including public polling that indicates a tough fight in both the Senate and Presidential race here in Michigan. And a serious GOP opponent throwing their hat in the race.
Add it all up, and it makes for an especially important benchmark for our campaign. Everyone will be watching to see what we report. Our opponent and his dark money backers will look to see how we stack up and gauge whether or not they have a path to victory here.
We use these deadlines to send a clear message that this will not be an easy seat to flip. But the majority of the donations we receive come in response to emails like this. So we're hoping today is the day you'll a contribution to Elissa Slotkin's campaign for Senate to help us hold Michigan.
So, we’re asking: Can you contribute $5, $10 or whatever you can afford today? The amount of the donation before our FEC deadline ends is important, but the most important thing is the number of people chipping in.
