Water source update
water tower with moon
The Village?s goal to connect to Lake Michigan water through the DuPage Water Commission (DWC) is on track for 2027. On August 22, the Village Board heard the first of several presentations on funding the project, including the impacts on water rates. The Village continues to find ways to offset the expense of the project to our residents which is expected to cost more than $75 million. Federal grants and low-interest loans will help reduce the total cost, as well as revenue from the Village?s real estate transfer tax that was approved by referendum in 2022.
View the August 22 water rate presentation [ [link removed] ] and watch [ [link removed] ] the meeting. The next water rate presentation will take place at the October 17 Committee of the Whole meeting at Village Hall. As always, the public is invited to attend and share feedback at all Village Board meetings [ [link removed] ]. All Committee of the Whole and Village Board meetings are live streamed and the video is available to watch [ [link removed] ] afterward.
