Friend: Who’s an undocumented person in your life? What would their life look like with protections?
Trump-appointed Judge Hanen just reaffirmed the decision to halt all new DACA applications. He’s leaving millions of immigrant youth in limbo, unable to apply for DACA’s life-changing protections and benefits — including my little sister.
If she had DACA protections, my sister would be able to go to school and get financial aid. Her immigration status wouldn’t get in the way of her applying for jobs, and she would be able to live her life free of worrying about deportation.
DACA is life-changing, friend. But now more than ever, it’s not enough. Millions of immigrant youth, like my sister, are now shut out of applying for DACA, plus the millions more immigrants who were never eligible in the first place. Even DACA recipients can’t be certain of their future, as the case may end up before the Supreme Court.
We need permanent protections now — so we can apply for jobs, get an affordable education, access health care, and live our lives proudly and free from the threat of deportation.
United We Dream Action was part of the coalition that helped win DACA back in 2012, and we’re leading the charge to secure a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients and ALL undocumented people.
This fight isn’t easy, which is why I’m asking for your support today: Will you chip in $10 or more to join our immigrant youth-led movement and support our fight for permanent protections?
