The GOP’s second presidential debate took place last night, and calling it a clown show wouldn’t even begin to describe how unhinged and off-the-rails it was. Not only did it highlight the stark differences between Republicans’ and Democrats’ vision for America, it also highlighted how unprofessional and disastrous for Americans those individuals would be if elected to the highest office in the nation. We need your help in our fight to reelect Biden in order to keep his momentum going and continue supporting policies that help, not hurt, Americans. The Republican candidates, including the absent Donald Trump, all proved yet again how extreme their platforms are and how eager they are to support and enact MAGA-level extreme policies. They denied climate change and endorsed a coal-burning, gasoline-powered future, suggested a federal ban on life-saving gender-affirming care for children, and spent most of their time arguing about substanceless topics like banning TikTok and Hunter Biden. When Americans throughout the nation are struggling to secure healthcare and improve education, the GOP is choosing to meddle in petty affairs that benefit no one.
The takeaway from last night’s debate is crystal clear: a GOP president would be detrimental and destructive for America. We can not afford to let up our efforts to prevent an out-of-touch, MAGA extremist candidate from securing any sort of power, let alone the highest elected position in the land.
