Last night, the seven Republican candidates running in the 2024 GOP
presidential primary gathered right here in California for their second
debate, spending almost two hours talking over each other and peddling
hateful agendas.

Simply put, it was chaos. But more than that, it was scary. It gave us a
glimpse into what the GOP’s America would look like — and it’s dark.

Transgender individuals would be cast aside as mentally ill.

Trans kids would be discriminated against in school.

Any chance at tackling the climate crisis would go up in smoke.

Guns and the gun industry’s profits would continue to be prioritized over
the lives of our children.

More of our rights and freedoms would be rolled back, while they spin lies
as truth to scare and distract.

As these candidates attacked the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, and
President Biden’s solidarity with striking auto workers, it became clear:
the GOP’s vision for our country is anti-union, transphobic, xenophobic,
and frankly un-American.

While they keep fighting with each other and using misinformation to push
their dangerous vision, Democrats are going to keep doing the hard work
and keep leading.

As our Attorney General, Rob is ensuring California leads the nation by
example, from acting on gun violence to climate change, and fighting to
protect our rights and freedoms.
