She is uniquely unfit to hold public office.     John, I want to highlight something that has flown under the radar, largely due to the absolute clown show that is Speaker McCarthy’s inept House “majority” and the impending government shutdown. This week during floor debate on a defense appropriations bill, Lauren Boebert attacked Shawn Skelly, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness and the Department of Defense’s highest-ranked transgender official. Boebert introduced an amendment that would penalize Ms. Skelly by reducing her salary to just $1. Ms. Skelly served as an active duty naval flight officer with the U.S. Navy for over 20 years, and has served under President Obama and now President Biden in senior posts with distinction and honor. During debate, Boebert ranted without any justification that Ms. Skelly has caused “significant harm to our military readiness and troops’ morale” and that she preaches “wokeism” (without defining whatever that is, of course). Boebert also purposely misgendered Ms. Skelly, calling her a “delusional man thinking he is a woman.” Someone like Shawn Skelly is an extraordinary example of this nation’s greatness—the diversity and authenticity of the American people as a source of strength and power, not weakness. She deserves nothing but honor for her service and sacrifice. Lauren Boebert, on the other hand, is a paragon of the absolute worst that America has to offer: selfish, opportunistic, mean-spirited and petty. While I’m sure nothing that came out of Boebert’s mouth bothered Ms. Skelly even slightly, the very fact of her slandering an honorable person is unacceptable. Because Lauren Boebert is still allowed to pretend to be a Member of Congress, Ms. Skelly had to endure her bigotry and pandering. That's why in moments like this, we always ask our supporters if they can recommit themselves to the cause of kicking her out of Congress.
