After a big local win against fracking in New Jersey, it’s time to take the next step — a national ban on transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) by rail. Urge President Biden to ban dangerous LNG transports.

John,
Last month, the federal government suspended a dangerous Trump-era rule that allowed the transport of highly explosive liquefied natural gas (LNG) by rail. This rule was a key component of a massive fracked gas export terminal proposed by New Fortress Energy, which activists in South Jersey have been fighting for years.
Now, President Biden needs to make this rule change permanent and protect all communities from LNG. Send a message urging Biden to ban the transport of dangerous liquefied fracked gas!

The full scope of the export terminal project in South Jersey would involve supercooling gas fracked in Pennsylvania into LNG and shipping it nearly 200 miles to a dock on the Delaware River for export. The shipping route would almost certainly have passed through dozens of communities, including parts of Philadelphia and Camden.
LNG is exceptionally dangerous: it can result in toxic ground-level pollution, and if ignited, it can burn into a fire too hot to extinguish.
Our activists have been fighting this plan on the local, state, and national level. Over the past several years, we:
Teamed up with local residents who worked to pass municipal resolutions opposing the project in 18 towns along the LNG transport route.
Knocked on doors and held community meetings so residents were in the know about this dangerous project proposed for their backyard.
Circulated and delivered petitions opposing the terminal to New Jersey Governor Murphy and President Biden.
Lobbied Representatives Andy Kim (NJ-03) and Donald Norcross (NJ-01) to protect their constituents and oppose the project.
Teamed up with grassroots groups from the Gulf Coast facing the threats of LNG there to rally outside Biden’s home in Delaware.

It’s clear our organizing is having an impact. Faith groups, civic groups, youth organizations, first responders, and others have all supported our cause once they’ve learned about the dangers of LNG.
Now it’s time for President Biden to ensure that no community is saddled with the sort of catastrophe that we in South Jersey have been fearing for years. Send your message to President Biden: We need a federal ban on LNG transport!
