After 25 years of marriage and having raised three children with Joanna (thankfully, in their mother’s image), I feel like the luckiest man in the world. Those of you who have seen her on the campaign trail know what I’ve known for over 25 years: Jo is inspiring, humble, principled, brave, hard-working, and selfless. She puts others first, cares deeply about her community, is a thoughtful problem solver, a master compromiser, and is committed to improving the lives of others.

That’s why she’s running for Congress. I’m reaching out for Joanna before her end-of-quarter deadline hits at midnight on Saturday because I want to show Joanna that we have her back. Will you chip in $3 straight away?

I don’t know if you know this, but Jo did not seek out this seat. She entered the campaign because she feared the seat would turn red -- not your father’s GOP red, but the hate-filled and narrow-minded red of today’s GOP extremists. So Jo, as she has done so many times in her life, answered the call. It’s not easy being a first time candidate for Congress who now is running against political insiders, but know this -- my wife is up to the task and the fight, she’s just getting started, and she will make you proud.

It’s clearer now than when Joanna decided to run that during these unprecedented times, we need someone who has integrity and will not take your trust and support for granted.

We need leaders who aspire to lift up others and make progress.

We need leaders who will share and champion the stories they hear from their neighbors.

We need leaders who are beholden only to the people, not to special interests.

We need leaders like Joanna because she will bring these values and our voices to Congress.
