Friend — I wanted you to be the first to know: I’m officially running for re-election!

For fourteen years, it has been my honor to represent Brooklyn, one of the most diverse communities in the country and a place I’m proud to call home, in Congress.

Growing up here, I was surrounded by a movement of activism and my parents, immigrants from Jamaica, were activists themselves. That fire of activism and grassroots organizing has prepared me to lead the fight against Trump and his racist policies — and I know how important this fight is.

It’s why I’ve worked so hard to address the challenges our community faces: passing legislation to ease the affordable housing crisis; championing small businesses; strengthening our diverse workforce; fighting for Medicare for All; protecting Roe v Wade; working towards a just immigration system, to name a few. My work on these issues, among others, is what has led the Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats to endorse our re-election campaign.

I am on the frontlines every day battling Donald Trump and his enablers. Our community needs a leader in Congress who is willing to stand up to the vitriol and racism that has become normalized by the president. And when Trump is kicked out of office — and he will be in November — we will need leaders who are willing to clean up the damage he has caused. 

I am so proud of the work we have accomplished together, but there is still work to be done — passing the Green New Deal and Medicare for All, providing a path to citizenship for our DREAMers, and so much more.

These are some of the most important fights of our lifetime, and I’m ready to lead the charge. But I need your support, friend, if we’re going to win these fights. That’s why I’m asking you to join my team as a Founding Member of my re-election campaign. Will you join us?
