The Global Gag Rule has been repeatedly imposed by Republican presidents to prevent women abroad from obtaining safe, legal abortion. In practice, it closes reputable clinics, sends women to back alleys, and limits regular access to medical care. The Global Gag Rule was rescinded by President Joe Biden, and we’re fighting to prevent it from ever being enacted again by a future president. You can help.
Today, 218 million women living in developing countries report an unmet need for family planning. In those same countries, there are 111 million unintended pregnancies each year. We’re adding one billion people to the planet every dozen years, stretching natural resources, contributing to global warming, and making life more precarious for those already living on the edge.
There is one step we can take that will improve people’s lives, help alleviate poverty, and protect our planet: ensuring universal access to family planning and reproductive health care.
