*Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act *Resources Series September 2023 Update**
BIL and IRA resource series
This is part of a series of messages from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) to share updates on relevant Bipartisan Infrastructure Law [ [link removed] ] (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act [ [link removed] ] (IRA) information related to energy and sustainability. This series will occur monthly and provide a snippet of upcoming federal grants, trainings, and other resources.

*FEDERAL GRANT OPPORTUNITIES:*?The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency?s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Implementation Grants [ [link removed] ]?are now open. There is $4.3 billion in competitive grants for projects that will achieve significant greenhouse gas reductions by 2030 and beyond. Awards will range from $2 million to $500 million. Eligible projects must be included in a Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) from a CPRG Planning Grant.?Applications are due by April 1, 2024.
The Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator Program [ [link removed] ], administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation, has $100 million available in competitive grants to repair or replace broken or non-operational publicly accessible electric vehicle chargers. A 20 percent cost share is required.?Applications are due November 13, 2023.
The?Transmission Siting and Economic Development Grant Program [ [link removed] ]?is a new program funded by the U.S. Department of Energy to expand electric transmission through siting and permitting, and invest in economic development in communities affected by interstate or offshore transmission projects.?Approximately $300 million is available. Concept papers are due October 31, 2023,?and full applications are due April 5, 2024.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration?s Coastal Habitat Restoration and Resilience for Tribes and Underserved Communities Program [ [link removed] ]?will provide $45 million in competitive grants to support community-driven coastal habitat restoration and climate resilience projects that build the capacity of tribes and underserved communities to more fully participate in restoration activities.?Applications are due December 17, 2023.?
Michigan farms and rural businesses ? including cooperative, municipal, and tribal utilities ?? could be getting?millions of dollars [ [link removed] ] more in grants and loans for renewable energy and efficiency projects through the?Rural Energy For America Program (REAP) [ [link removed] ]. The IRA provides over $2 billion in additional funding for REAP. Applications are accepted every quarter, and the?next deadlines are September 30, 2023, and December 31, 2023.

The Michigan Infrastructure Office also has a Technical Assistance Center [ [link removed] ] that funds communities to directly contract with consultants through their Metropolitan Planning or Economic Development Organizations for grant writing, administration, and other services.
