Next year there will almost certainly be a general election in the UK. But right now is when all the main political parties are meeting at their party conferences to decide what they will do if they are elected.  

We’ve got to make sure that introducing a new law to get debts cancelled is high on the list for whoever wins.  

Right now, 54 countries are in debt crisis. The poorest countries in the world are being drained of the money they need for essential services.  

But we’ve got a chance to make a real difference for countries trapped in debt. 90% of lending to the lowest income countries is enforced through UK courts. That means a new law here could force rich banks and hedge funds to cancel debts and stop acting like cowboys holding countries to ransom. 

Over the next few weeks, your MP will be meeting with others in their party to decide what they will do if they get elected. Can you help make sure cancelling debt is high on the list? 

So far over 4000 of us have contacted our MPs, and we’ve made some real progress for the campaign, but now we need to make our demands even louder.
