I wanted to send you a note before we close the books at midnight on our February fundraising, our final end-of-month deadline before the California primary election this coming Tuesday. I hope you’ll give me a chance to explain why this deadline is so important, especially now.

My team has reached out the past few days to let you know about the recent uptick in vicious and patently false attacks from President Trump and one of our Trump-loving opponents. No doubt, the lies, smears, misinformation, and attempts to distract and deflect will only continue to grow — especially as we get closer to the general election in November.

But make no mistake: I’m focused on continuing to pass legislation in Congress to lift up working families, help our communities, and protect our democratic values. From our efforts to lower prescription drug prices and protect healthcare, to improving our election security and addressing the homelessness crisis, I’m going to continue to work for you.

Unfortunately, the Senate GOP led by the “Grim Reaper” Mitch McConnell have blocked more than 400 bills to address the needs of everyday Americans, ranging from protecting against the coronavirus, to universal background checks, to campaign finance reform and election security.

With just three days until Super Tuesday and eight months to the general election, Republicans are making their priorities clear: passing new tax cuts for the wealthy, ramping up attacks on Democrats and building massive war chests to take back the House and keep both the Senate and White House in 2020.

That’s why this deadline is so critical: it’s our last opportunity before Californians and millions of other Americans head to the polls to show Trump, McConnell, and the GOP that the American people deserve better, and that they’ll demand it at the ballot box.

This year’s elections will be our best chance to defend and expand our Democratic House Majority, flip the Senate, and take back the presidency. If you’re with me, pitch in $10 or whatever you can to help us reach our fundraising goal by midnight and fuel our campaign into November.
